On the 27th of January, the Netherlands American Chamber of Commerce in Texas kick started the New Year with a big New Year's reception, organized together with the NBSO and the Port of Rotterdam. Highlight of the evening was the key-note by Allard Castelein, CEO and President of the Port of Rotterdam. After a warm welcome to all and a brief introduction by NACCTX President Nadia Sant, Allard addressed the audience with an insightful speech about the Port of Rotterdam, recent developments and changes in the market, opportunities and challenges and the way ahead.
The Port of Rotterdam is the largest seaport in Europe and together with Singapore and Houston serves as one of the 3 key petrochemical hubs in the world. Allard further highlighted the similarities between the ports of Rotterdam and Houston. In that respect we were delighted to have Commissioners Branch and Kennedy of the Port Authority of Houston as our guests. NBSO's Chief Representative Saskia Pardaans closed the speeches, highlighting the strong trade relations between Texas and The Netherlands.
The Reception marked the first event in an ambitious year for the NACCTX, and we like to thank our corporate sponsors - Fugro, PKF, Comerica and Short Stay Houston for their generous support to making the event an even bigger succes! With more than 120 guests present from a broad variety of backgrounds, the year 2016 started very well. On the 25th of February NACCTX members are welcome to join the Chamber at the annual meeting, where the newly elected Board will share its plans for the year.
