In the monthly Lunch & Learn series the Netherlands American Chamber of Commerce - Texas Chamber gathers business people around a broad variety of topics. There are always interesting people to meet and new things to learn.

We are very pleased to announce that on Tuesday April 14 our guest speaker is:

Michael Payne
Executive Director
BikeHouston

"BikeHouston; an interesting case of change"

When Michael Payne joined BikeHouston as its Executive Director just over a year ago, it was his goal to transform BikeHouston from a 100% volunteer organization with limited resources to a professionally staffed, self-sustaining bicycle advocacy organization. Inspired by his 9 years stay in the Netherlands, where cycling is very well organized and part of daily life, he arrived in Houston with a mission.

Over lunch Michael will tell us about BikeHouston, the challenges he met during the transformation of the organization and his mission to make Houston a bicycle friendly city. He will tell us where things stand a year after his arrival. He will talk about how cycling fits the Houstonian lifestyle. Furthermore, he will fill us in on the Bicycle Master Plan, what is next and how he plans to get there.

This lunch is meant for everyone dealing with change, resistance to change and of course anyone who loves cycling. So please come and join us and bring your friends!

Before joining BikeHouston Michael spent 16 years working on sustainable development issues. Michael holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern and also has a BA in International Studies from Emory University.

Participants are encouraged to ask questions in an informal atmosphere.
